What is the Canvas reading list tool?

Answer

The Canvas Reading List tool lets students access Course Reserve items, instructor-uploaded files, and internet resources within their Canvas course. The tool integrates within Canvas, enabling easy access for instructors and students without requiring a separate log-in. The tool allows instructors to add other instructors and/or library staff as collaborators to help build and manage the list.

We especially encourage instructors to use the Canvas Reading List for their electronic course reserves. We are happy to assist instructors with creating and managing electronic course reserves using the Canvas Reading List tool. Instructors will have the ability to either create a new reading list or roll over Reading Lists created in previous semesters.

For more information, see the Faculty Guide to Placing Materials on Reserve, the Canvas Reading List guide, or watch a short how-to video on how to embed a reading list into your Canvas course.

Please email reserves@calstatela.edu with any questions.
